Why Good Product Support Matters, Even If You Never Need It
Having a biometric time clock can be a wonderful thing. These clocks allow you to accurately track your employee time and attendance, lighten the workload on your company’s human resource and bookkeeping departments, put a stop to the threat of employee time theft and provide many other benefits besides, especially when they’re combined into an even more powerful system along with attendance software and sophisticated biometric access control systems which make your company facilities secure.
However, none of this means a lot to your company unless you have access to responsive, helpful customer service and technical support when it’s needed. While it’s not common for these systems to break down, especially when you’ve purchased them from reputable manufacturers or suppliers, it’s important to know that if something comes up, you’ll be able to get the product support you need in a timely manner so that you can have your company’s time clock back up and running shortly.
The Difference Between Us and Them
Especially in the case of systems which double as biometric access control solutions, quality support is everything – and companies which don’t provide this service along with their time and attendance and access control systems are best avoided. After all, if a company won’t stand behind their wares, it doesn’t speak well as to their quality – and with a sophisticated system like a CS time clock, quality really does matter. There are choices out there and they are most certainly not all the same, which means that customers should choose not only based on the product, but also based on the company who offers the product.
Some of the things you should look for when evaluating the customer support offered by different manufacturers and distributors of time and attendance system are these:
- A phone number: it’s truly surprising how many vendors either make their phone number difficult to find on their website (or don’t post it online at all). If the company doesn’t want you calling for product support, you may want to think twice about whether this is a firm you want to do business with, particularly for something as important as your company’s time clock.
- Online support: Online support is also important; you don’t always have questions during regular business hours, after all – and if after hours support via the web is offered in addition to phone-based support, this is an encouraging sign.
- Downloads and other online resources: Software updates, FAQs and other technical information about your product should be easily available. Sometimes you can troubleshoot problems yourself – as long as your vendor makes the right information readily available.
Support really does matter – even if you never actually find yourself having to call the customer support number, knowing that the company stands behind their time clocks, time and attendance software and biometric access control systems speaks to their quality.
