Which Type Of Biometric Time Clock Should You Choose?
Are you still using a Bundy clock for your company’s time and attendance system? If so, you’re probably already well aware that it’s time for a change. If your firm happens to still use handwritten time sheets, then the need to modernize your employee attendance and payroll procedures is even more apparent. Thankfully, there are much better options out there which are not only more efficient and accurate, but also affordable to install – and that can save you thousands upon thousands of dollars in labor costs, traditionally one of the most difficult of overhead expenses to trim.
Biometric clocks have been with us for a few years now, but they’re starting to be adopted by companies large and small alike all around the globe. If you know even a little about these time clocks, then you know that these are the wave of the future (and indeed, the wave of the present as well). What you may not know is exactly what type of biometric time clock would best suit the needs of your company. We’ll introduce some of the options which are available to you in terms of electronic time and attendance systems, so if you’ve been trying to figure out just what biometric clock is right for your firm, this should give you the information you need to make an informed decision.
PIN Code Models
Some models of biometric clocks use individual PIN codes assigned to each of your employees to identify who is clocking in or out. Like other electronic time clocks, these clocks make it incredibly difficult for employees to engage in deliberate or accidental time theft while being a very simple and low cost time and attendance system to deploy and use.
Proximity Sensor Models
These time clocks use ID tags which are again, individually assigned to your employees; a proximity sensor in the time clock detects these tags as they are passed by the sensor, clocking in employees quickly and easily. This is a slightly more secure system than a PIN code model, while still offering a low cost of installation and ownership; they’re ideal for mid-sized companies looking for a more accountable and cost effective time and attendance system.
Fingerprint Scan Models
This is the most secure option of all – while employees bent on engaging in time theft may be willing to share their PIN codes or even their ID tags, there’s no faking a fingerprint. While slightly more costly than a PIN code or proximity sensor enabled time clock, these time clocks are the last word in secure attendance systems and as such are often chosen by larger companies where reducing labor costs and improving payroll processing are important goals.
