Hold Employees Accountable for Time and Attendance with Biometric Time Clocks

Accountability is a word which gets thrown around a lot in the workplace, especially in connection to the topic of employee time and attendance systems. It’s funny, really, since many of the companies who use this term quite often still use time sheets and other outmoded attendance systems which are, of course, anything but accountable themselves.

Even though it’s definitely not something that many of your employees do (at least it is to be hoped that it is not), handwritten time sheets and even time cards and a old mechanical Bundy clock are very susceptible to unscrupulous employees looking to beat the system. These attendance systems simply aren’t accountable and unlike a new biometric time clock, they’re easy to fool.
When you choose to install a biometric clock at your place of business, you’ll put a stop to the problem of time theft in one fell swoop. These clocks are very difficult (and really, almost impossible) to fool. Since each of your employees uses a unique identifier to clock in and out each day, your staff members can no longer clock in for one another or in the case of handwritten time sheets, simply write down hours when they weren’t on the job. Again, it’s probably not something that goes on a lot at any given company, but it happens enough that virtually every company which uses an inherently unaccountable time and attendance system loses money to this practice.
Your employees naturally want to be paid in full for all of the time they spend on the job; and as the owner or manager of the business, you want the same for your staff – but you also don’t want to end up inflating your labor costs by paying employees for time they haven’t spent working. It’s a simple enough concept and it’s fair to everyone involved. However, it can be incredibly tough for either party to know if the other is treating them fairly when the company’s time and attendance system is prone to inaccuracies and is not accountable or traceable.
One of the best features of a biometric time clock, both in terms of accountability and savings for your firm is that they can be linked into your company’s network and send the attendance data they gather directly to your firm’s accounting department. Many models work seamlessly with popular accounting software, making for an incredibly easy to administer attendance solution which saves your company thousands upon thousands over time. If you’re using time sheets in this day and age, you’re losing money – and it’s definitely time to start using a biometric clock and make your business a more efficient and more profitable one.
